Lobuche(6119m) is situated in the Everest region of Nepal with
its two distinct summits, Lobuche East (6119m) and Lobuche West
(6145m). The climbing peak permit is for Lobuche East. The true east
peak summit is striking and is reached by descending into a notch and
climbing steep snow / ice slopes to the top. This is rarely done and
most attempts on the mountain climb the summit ridge only as far as
the subsidiary snow summit. The first recorded ascent of the true
Lobuche East summit was by Laurence Nielson and Sherpa Ang Gyalzen in
1984. The Principle Camp are Base Camp near Lobuche Village. High Camp
above Tsho La Tso +/- (5357m)
