Pokhara is situated at an altitude of 827m from the sea level and 200km west of Kathmandu Valley.Pokhara Valley has a large number of lakes like Phewa,Rupa,Begnas,Dipang,Maidi, Khaste e.t.c. because of which it is called "lake district of Nepal".Pokhara Valley also receives the highest rainfall in the country.Beautiful mountain peaks surrounding it,deep caves,beautiful Lakes and rivers have made Pokhara famous tourist resort.The best time to visit Pokhara is between October and April. The inhabitation of Pokhara are Gurung,Magars,Rai and so on.Gurungs and Magars are found in majority.
