Rolwalling valley consists of famous peaks like Dorje
lakpa,Mount Ghauri Shankar(7134m) and many others. It is the beautiful
Mid-Eastern range of the Himalayan lying between the Everest and
Langtang regions.This district is a wild and almost not discovered
where legendary stories of Snowman called as "Yeti" is heard. The
famous British mountaineer ,Eric Shipton,first photographed Yeti foot
prints in 1951 on the slope of Rolwalling peak. The best time for the
trek is October-November/March-May.Ramdung Kharka is the highest
access of the trek.
One of the option for trekking is to trek to Na,(a small Sherpa
village), to trek back to kathmandu.This trek needs a peak permit for
climbing the peaks such as Ramdung,Yalung and Pancharmo.Permits is to
be gained from the Nepal Mountaineering Association through an
asscociated member trekking company.
Another option is, the trek starts from Dolakha near
Charikot,and nine hour drive from kathmandu.There is also the choice
to continue trek crossing Tashilapcha(5755m). Technical mountaineering
skills and equipments are needed for this adventure .Trekkers can see
Tsho-Rolpo,the largest Glacier Lake in Nepal.They can continue to
Khumbu region.
